One Benefit to Listening to Worship Music Throughout Your Day as a Homemaker

Hello homemakers! Excuse me while I dust off my keyboard and write to you a short post about my recent decision to play music throughout the day…

This inspiration came to me from dear Sally Clarkson. Her work has inspired me a lot lately! Something I’ve really been working on as a mama & wife lately is staying cheerful amid the chaos & stress of every day life.

You see, I’ve always been a rather serious person. I used to pride myself in that — deeming I was just so mature for my age. I couldn’t be bothered to be silly or laugh at things. I was mature and serious.

But what way of life is this? Even God has a sense of humor, at least I perceive him to, especially when I’m reading the old testament.

I also felt very convicted when I realized my children are the direct receptors of any attitude I am putting out. Who suffers the consequences of my disgruntlement? Not I, but my precious, vulnerable children.

I desire to be a refuge. I want my children to think of myself and our home as a place of warmth, joy, and cheer. Not rigidity!

Staying cheerful & joyful in difficult situations can seem fake or dishonest — but that isn’t the kind of toxic positivity I’m talking about here.

I’m simply requiring of myself what I deeply desire to require my children of — to abide with a happy heart. To keep Jesus & His kingdom on the forefront. To laugh and keep a light-heart. To rest in Him!

So all that to say…I do recommend listening to worship music while going about your daily duties. For many many many reasons — but most notably, you may find yourself in desperate need of some Godly encouragement — dipping your toes into a negative place of self pity, hopelessness, or what have you…

…and then the verse, “Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, how I proved Him over and over…” pops into your head. And you remember that your little life is such a profound testimony of the necessity of Jesus’s crucifixion. What a restful place to live, forever in gratitude. I owe my life to Him!

That’s all for today, blessings to you!
